Melbourne, VIC assists low-vision residents with audio information beacons
Melbourne, VIC Low-Vision Information Beacons
The city's partnership with Guide Dogs Victoria yielded a network of beacons that help low-vision pedestrians navigate Melbourne. Virtual and physical beacons communicate locations and obstacles in 25 languages through the BlindSquare app. The first round of beacons at public transit stops were followed by beacons at destinations like Town Hall and City Library.
