Melbourne, VIC turns vacant buildings into public art to reinvigorate shopping areas
Melbourne, VIC Reinvigorate Vacant Buildings Public Art
In Progress
Melbourne found 26 percent of commercial center storefronts were vacant or temporarily closed in early 2021. The city provided nine precinct groups a total of $100,000 AUD for commercial center design projects. Local artists and creative groups are tasked with installing 45 art displays in front of empty storefronts over a two-month period. The installations will attract shoppers to open shops and encourage business owners to envision themselves in vibrant shopping precincts.
