Phoenix, AZ Street Smart Tech Pilot generates data on downtown street safety and maintenance needs

Phoenix, AZ Street Smart Tech Downtown Safety Maintenance

In Progress

Argos Vision traffic cameras were installed at high-traffic intersections near City Hall and Arizona State University's campus. Each camera analyzes traffic types and concentrations with an AI-enabled computer. ASU researchers and city officials will analyze data on near-misses of pedestrians by cars and bikes. The cameras also generate data on vehicle types for predictive road maintenance. The one-year pilot is part of the Vision Zero Road Safety Action Plan passed in 2022.
