The city of San Jose is partnering with Helium and California Emerging Technology Fund to launch a new digital equity pilot. The one-year pilot program involves mining for HNT cryptocurrency tokens through Helium Hotspot to help low-income residents subsidize their internet service costs. The program aims to cover the costs of internet plans for over 1,300 households by providing participants with a one-time $120 payment.
