Sandpoint, ID welcomes the world's first application of Solar Roadways technology in public square

Sandpoint, ID Solar Roadways Technology Public Square

Complete

Jeff Jones Town Square contains a 30-panel solar surface created and installed by local company Solar Roadways. The 44-watt panels are programmable to change colors or light up during pedestrian interactions. Solar Roadways built the SR3 panel line to be upgradable as solar technology becomes more efficient. Sandpoint uses the surface to power nearby EV charging stations. The square previously kicked off the town's fiber-optic lines with free Wi-Fi.
