Swindon Borough Council, GB Common Farm Park Solar Bond

Complete

The council-owned Public Power Solutions generated £1.8 million in bond funding for the 4.8-megawatt farm. A 20-year bond with a 6% interest rate was available for £5. An additional £3 million was supplied by the council to convert the disused farmland in Wroughton. The 98-day Common Farm drive led to a follow-up bond campaign for Chapel Farm Solar Park that raised £2.3 million in 42 days. Public Power Solutions reinvests 65% of profits from solar energy to community programs.
