Tampa, FL expands connected vehicle program

Tampa has implemented a pioneering connected vehicle pilot project, involving over 1,000 vehicles communicating with traffic signals and roadside units to improve traffic flow and safety. The 18-month project includes equipping personal cars, buses, and streetcars with technology that interacts with infrastructure like traffic signals at strategic points across downtown Tampa and the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway.
