Tweed, NSW approves council's largest solar plant for Banora Point Wastewater Treatment Plant
Tweed, NSW Solar Plant Wastewater Treatment Plant
In Progress
The 604-kilowatt system will use 1,500 panels to power the council's biggest source of energy consumption. Council officials estimate 20% of the plant's power will come from solar energy upon completion. The Banora Point solar system makes a dent in the $3.4 million AUD electrical bill each year that comes from treating 10 million liters of water per day. Tweed's Renewable Energy Action Plan seeks to produce 50% of its energy from renewable sources like solar by 2025.
