València, VC leverages AI to create digital twins for urban planning
Valencia's city government, through the EU-funded CitiVerse European Digital Infrastructure Consortium is leveraging AI to create digital twins for urban planning and disaster management. By integrating AI-based simulations with real-time data from sensors and virtual replicas of city infrastructure, the initiative allows officials to model extreme events, such as the devastating floods in the Valencia region, and test preventive strategies to mitigate risks.
Project Succeeded
This collaborative platform, involving 14 EU Member States and aiming to onboard 100 cities within two years, enhances stakeholder engagement through immersive virtual tours of proposed improvements, ensuring decisions are data-driven and inclusive. As a result, Valencia is setting a benchmark for sustainable urban development, reducing environmental impacts and improving resilience while fostering industry partnerships for scalable AI solutions across Europe.
