Wairoa District Council partnered with Wairoa New World, a local supermarket, and the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority to promote energy efficiency with a giveaway. This community-based lighting project offered five free LED lightbulbs to every Wairoa household. Each household received a letter with a voucher for the free LED bulbs which was redeemable for one week at any New World supermarket. The goal was to reduce overall electricity usage in the area for the environment.
