Bath & North East Somerset Council, GB prepares drivers months prior to Clean Air Zone opening

Bath & North East Somerset Council, GB Clean Air Zone

In Progress

The council installed plate-reading cameras and zone signage around the Bath city center three months before the March 2021 start. Motorists that face daily emission charges received postcards about remediation methods. The Clean Air Zone website includes a vehicle database and a financing process for drivers who want to reduce vehicle emissions. Commercial vehicles and heavy trucks will be charged £100 per day in the zone, while taxis and vans will be charged £9 per day.

Clean air zones are being introduced across England so that we can all enjoy cleaner, healthier air.  Bath’s Clean Air Zone (CAZ) starts on 15 March 2021. From this date, you may have to pay a daily charge to drive in the zone if your vehicle does not meet required emission standards.  Please check whether your vehicle will be charged in a clean air zone at www.gov.uk/cleanairzone. All you need is your vehicle registration number.
