Park staffers evaluated the plug-in Solectrac Farmtrac 25G during a trial at Forest Farm Nature Reserve. The tractor can operate for up to six hours and fully recharge from a standard outlet in four hours. Deployment of the tractor across public parks will reduce lawn maintenance emissions by 50%. Cardiff is among the first local governments in the United Kingdom to purchase an all-electric tractor.

Cardiff Council is set to be one of the first local authorities in the UK to purchase an electric tractor, following a successful trial at Forest Farm Nature Reserve. The Farmtrac 25G electric tractor, which charges via a standard 3-pin plug, will replace a diesel run tractor currently used for meadow management, and is expected to half the emissions currently associated with this work.
