The City of Cleveland is making changes to its 911 emergency dispatch to reduce hold times for callers. The change involves redirecting 911 calls made from cell phones in the city to Cuyahoga County dispatchers. The county dispatchers will collect and verify basic information before transferring the call to the appropriate service. The county is actively hiring more dispatchers in order to take on as many as 400,000 calls from Cleveland cell phones.
