The City of Fort Worth partnered with Flock Safety to deploy solar-powered, motion-activated license plate cameras. The Flock Safety Falcon stationary cameras allow neighborhood HOAs and police officers to identify and locate cars associated with criminal activity. The city installed 63 Flock Safety Falcon cameras in high-crime areas at a cost of $2,000 per camera. The city established privacy protocols which require every police officer to have a documented reason to search the database.

Project Succeeded
The Fort Worth police have made nearly 400 arrests with the help of the automatic license plate reader cameras and the department plans to expand the program. The department has had the greatest success with 299 stolen car recoveries and the cameras have helped develop leads for suspects in drive-by shootings and homicides.
