Heerlen, LI community currency public jobs app pilot
The Municipality of Heerlen launched the "Heerlens Heitje" community currency pilot which rewards residents for doing small jobs in their own neighborhoods. The mobile app allows residents to propose small improvements to public spaces. Once approved, these proposals are converted into jobs which users can claim. Participants that complete these jobs earn "heitjes" digital coins which can be spent at affiliated businesses.

In de app van ’t Heerlens Heitje zijn vanaf maandag 4 oktober klussen verspreid over álle wijken in Heerlen te vinden. Iedereen die het leuk vindt om zijn of haar eigen buurt mooier te maken, kan nu meedoen. Met de digitale heitjes die daarmee verdiend worden, koopt men bijvoorbeeld een lunch, boek of spel bij de aangesloten lokale ondernemers. Elisabeth uit Meezenbroek doet geregeld een klusje en is enthousiast: “Ik ben trots op mijn wijk. Blij dat ik door mee te doen iets kan betekenen voor Heerlen.” De app is gratis te downloaden in de App Store of Google Play Store.
