Laredo, TX introduces Color Coded Advisory System to inform public of COVID-19 status
The Laredo Health Department used daily positive cases to determine green, yellow, orange, or red designations. This system coincided with mask requirements caused by an increase in cases. Level 1 designation indicated low risk of transmission with fewer than 50 active cases. Laredo issued the Level 4 designation for highest-risk situations with more than 250 active cases. City officials recommended increasing levels of vigilance about gatherings across all advisory levels.

Laredo, TX is collaborating with local school districts on a public Wi-Fi network during COVID-19
The City of Laredo is collaborating with two local school districts to create a public Wi-Fi network for students without internet access during the COVID-19 pandemic. The city is planning to create neighborhood access points by placing hot spots at 11 recreation centers, 36 schools, and seven libraries. These access points will be available to the entire community but are specifically designed to guarantee students have access to remote learning during the lockdowns.
