Leduc, AB Plug-in Zamboni Fleet Replacement Program

Complete

The all-electric ice resurfacer provides low-emissions and low-maintenance services at the Leduc Recreation Centre. An on-site charging station powered by solar energy keeps the Zamboni operating at key moments. The city anticipates a 30% reduction in maintenance costs and carbon emission savings of 5 tons per year. Facilities staff will evaluate the first Zamboni's performance as they plan long-term replacements for its fleet.

Levelling ice surfaces at the Leduc Recreation Centre in the City of Leduc will be more efficient and cost effective with the recent arrival of the city’s first ever electric powered Zamboni. The new machine, which is the first of its size in Alberta, was added to the city’s fleet in March 2021 and is expected to improve ice quality for users while reducing fuel costs and water consumption.
