Southwark officials initiated the Great Estates Programme to increase resident engagement while identifying localized housing needs. Great Estates provided £970,000 for resident-guided improvements at seven council estates. Residents worked with borough staff to create Estate Development Plans that guided projects. The spectrum of approved improvements ranged from lighting upgrades to public gardens.
