Borough leaders sought reduced energy costs and environmental impacts at council-owned senior homes. Aston Group and Spartek ECS installed a customized solar installation for the pilot project at Longfield House. Waltham Forest also procured on-site battery storage to retain unused energy. This installation produces an estimated 72,134 kilowatt-hours of energy each year and reduces annual emissions by 18,466 kilograms.

Waltham Forest Council retrofitted sheltered housing schemes by developing a solar-powered system that could generate and store enough electricity to power the lifts and LED lighting in communal areas, both day and night.

Project Succeeded

Borough officials approved similar systems for council properties at Plaxton Court and Clifton House in 2021.
