Moreton Bay, QLD discourages reckless driving behavior with new road surface pilot
The council applied a calcite bauxite surface on two intersections for a nine-month evaluation period. This high-friction surface damages tires during burnouts, while leaving vehicles following the flow of traffic unscathed. Moreton Bay selected the Bult Drive location as a test of the surface's durability and noise levels under heavy truck traffic. The Forgan Road location was identified as a reckless driving hotspot based on resident reports.

Moreton Bay, QLD replaces manual inspections of water tanks with remote monitoring system
Sense & Locate sensors from project partner Myriota were affixed to public water tanks. The devices monitor real-time water levels and transmit data on an Optus IoT network to the council. Moreton Bay previously sent staff members for daily tank inspections, often resulting in no meaningful changes from previous readings. This smart monitoring network reduces council costs by $20,000 AUD per year and provides reliable readings of available water supplies.
