Moreton Bay, QLD uses Australian-first recycled tire product for King Street resurfacing project

Moreton Bay, QLD King Street Recycled Resurfacing Project

Complete

The two-week resurfacing project sourced tires from local landfills to produce Austek's Carbonphalt. This durable surfacing solution replaces portions of asphalt mix with processed tire rubber that can take up to 80 years to decompose. Carbonphalt meets the needs of the heavily traveled road while reducing Moreton Bay's emissions. Council officials estimated that 21,000 tires were used for the project, displacing 2,100 tons of waste from the landfill.
