Naperville, IL police department body camera trials
The Naperville Police Department is testing body cameras that capture their actions when answering a call, interviewing witnesses, or making an arrest. The trial will take place over six to ten weeks with 26 voluntary participants from various units testing equipment from Motorola, Axon, and BodyWorn. The cost of a subscription service for equipment and cloud storage would be approximately $400,000 per year. The city's goal is to equip all 177 sworn officers with body cameras by fall of 2022.
