Newcastle, NSW Night Spaces Project Art Technology Safety

The project is part of Newcastle's effort to create safe and engaging public spaces at night. Fifteen works of art from the Newcastle Art Gallery are displayed on lightboxes at Kuwumi Place, Pacific Park, and Market Street. Each box is solar-powered and activates its lights based on motion detection. Visitors learn about the artwork and the artists through augmented reality features. The Night Spaces boxes are portable and will rotate to other locations in the future.
