The Halls Gap Preparedness and Resilience Project mobilizes community resources against natural disasters. A survey asked residents about their concerns ahead of bushfire season. The council planned workshops for fire plan development by homeowners and businesses. A community-run resiliency group uses local experience and knowledge for improved disaster responses. Researchers from the University of Melbourne will assist with the Fuel Reduction Research project.

Council has been funded to undertake a series of capacity building activities within this project to enhance community emergency preparedness and resilience both at the residential and business level. This funding is earmarked to bring research, facilitated workshops, technology and community led collaboration to an emergency space which affects us all, every year.
