The City of Palo Alto's Office of Emergency Services has proposed creating a "Foothills Fire Early Warning System" using new internet-connected and artificial intelligence-equipped fire-detection technologies. The proposed technologies include infrared imaging cameras that use machine learning to alert the city of possible fires, thermal imaging that provides first responders with an aerial point-of-view when a fire is detected, and internet-connected sensors that detect fires automatically.
