Nave Satélites - or Satellite Ships - convert former CIEP learning centers into accessible spaces for digital training. Local workers prepare for office employment with free courses like Basic Excel and IT certification options. Residents of all ages find computer stations for online tasks and tablets for Internet browsing. City officials anticipate each Nave Satélite will serve up to 450 people per month with three Zona Oeste locations planned by the end of 2023.

Rio de Janeiro, RJ identifies and assists its most vulnerable households with Social Territories

The city's Pereira Passos Institute and UN-Habitat began the program with 100 favelas. Survey results determined family hardships and registration status with the national Social Registry. Households were evaluated based on the Multidimensional Poverty Index and assisted following in-person visits by outreach workers. Follow-up surveys and visits monitor the impacts of personalized interventions. Rio de Janeiro will expand the program to reach more than 650,000 households by 2024.
