Rotorua District Council, NZ and Salt + Tonic introduce (s)elect mobile app for voter research

Rotorua District Council, NZ (s)elect Voter Research App

In Progress

District officials sought a solution to low turnout in municipal elections, especially among young voters. Local developer Salt + Tonic added information on every 2022 candidate for local office into the app. Users filter candidates by ward or office and ask questions about their policy positions. The Rotorua Business Chamber monitors questions for repetition and hate speech but leaves all other questions unedited. Candidate responses are published without editing for maximum transparency.
