A communication system was installed in each apartment and common area of Longbow Flats. First responders use a one-way microphone on the first floor to instruct residents during emergency situations. Essex County Fire & Rescue Service can direct evacuations and shelter-in-place orders based on emergency type and location. The Longbow Flats pilot may be extended to other council homes based on funding and test results.
