Stirling, WA opens Naala Djookan Healing Centre after extensive co-design process with stakeholders
Stirling, WA Co-Design Process Naala Djookan Healing Centre
Stirling worked with partners like Ebenezer Aboriginal Corporation and The Australian Childhood Foundation on the center's design. Specialists at the Mirrabooka facility focus on early intervention and healthy relationships to reduce incidents of family and domestic violence. Wellness activities like jewelry making, Nyoongar language lessons, and yoga address the whole health of families. Women also receive financial literacy and legal support during drop-in sessions.
Project Succeeded
Naala Djookan Healing Centre reached full-service capacity after six months instead of its original one-year goal. Stirling was a finalist for the 2021 Metro Innovative Partnership Award at the Local Government Professionals Community Development Conference.
