Sydney, NSW advances first local standards for net zero energy development in Australia

Sydney, NSW First Australia Local Standards Net Zero Energy

In Progress

Council leaders consulted with the local business community to determine challenges for a net-zero energy policy. The proposal heading to public review requires new commercial developments and renovations to achieve net-zero consumption. Businesses can use on-site and off-site renewable energy sources to reach this standard. Matching 100% of building consumption with sustainable energy starting in 2023 would lead to an estimated $1.3 billion in savings over the next 17 years.
