Turku, FI breaks down language barriers to COVID-19 outreach with Åbot chatbot
Turku, FI Åbot COVID-19 Outreach Chatbot Language
In Progress
The city worked with Neuvo Oy Global to create an AI-enabled bot that includes 11% of residents who don't speak Finnish or Swedish. Åbot uses a conversational style to impart COVID-19 testing and services information in 100 languages. Datasets from the Turku Welfare Division and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare inform the bot's advice. A one-month testing period and a four-month pilot refined the bot through hundreds of interactions.
