Waikato Regional Council partnered with the Waikato District Health Board and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency to offer free bus rides to and from COVID-19 vaccination appointments. Passengers can show any regional or city bus driver their vaccination appointment letter or text confirmation to travel for free. Drivers simply confirm that the appointment is dated for that day of travel only and then waive the fare.

Waikato Regional Council implemented weekly fare capping in the Bee Card ticketing system for public transportation. The council made the change in order to make bus travel more affordable for residents budgeting for travel. The maximum an adult will pay per week is $18 and the maximum anyone under the age of 18 will pay is $15 per week. Once a passenger reaches the weekly fare cap, any further bus travel is free for the week.

The platform provides external agencies and members of the public with a unified and comprehensive view of spatial information. The platform includes GIS datasets for water utilities, infrastructure, property boundaries, recreation maps, community data, etc.

Waikato Regional Council created "The Mighty Waikato Cookbook" an award-winning COVID-19 fundraising cookbook. The cookbook was designed to celebrate local food establishments closed due to the lockdowns and to help pay for food for vulnerable residents. More than 40 local restaurants and cafes contributed recipes to the cookbook. The cookbook can be bought and downloaded for donation of $5 or more.
