Waikato Regional Council created "The Mighty Waikato Cookbook" an award-winning COVID-19 fundraising cookbook. The cookbook was designed to celebrate local food establishments closed due to the lockdowns and to help pay for food for vulnerable residents. More than 40 local restaurants and cafes contributed recipes to the cookbook. The cookbook can be bought and downloaded for donation of $5 or more.

More than $10,000 was raised towards Momentum Waikato and Wise Group’s community kitchen. The large commercial kitchen set up at Claudelands Event Centre produced over 457,514 individual meals.
