Wandsworth Borough Council, GB takes a new approach to speed limit enforcement during UK-first pilot
Wandsworth Borough Council, GB Speed Limit Enforcement
Council research found that up to 25% of motorists exceeded speed limits on Priory Lane and Wimbledon Park Road. The eight-month pilot uses cameras for real-time monitoring and detection of motorists exceeding the speed limit of 20 miles per hour. Wandsworth will send warning letters to offenders during the initial rollout before issuing £130 fines per offense. This approach complements enforcement efforts by Metropolitan Police and sets a blueprint for other London councils.
