The amendment requires new residential and commercial developments to design circuitry with electric vehicle chargers in mind. Council officials adopted the change so developers and builders anticipate significant EV adoption by local residents. Woollahra is the first local council in Australia to approve this change. The council's development plan change coincided with the installation of its first public EV charger at Kiaora Place.

Electric Vehicles: Leading the Way | Your Say Woollahra

Be part of shaping the future of electric vehicles in Woollahra Woollahra Council wants to be a leader in supporting the use of electric vehicles now and in the future. At its meeting of 11 November 2019 Council approved the Woollahra Development Control Plan 2015 (Amendment 9). Read the full Council resolution here. The amendment inserts the following provisions into the Woollahra Development Control Plan 2015: updated planning controls into Chapter E1 Parking and Access for electric vehicle circuitry and electric vehicle charging points based on international best practice corresponding provisions into Part A: Introduction and Administration to appropriately give effect to the amendment. The new planning controls for electric vehicles came into effect on 2 January 2020. This amendment aims to support current and future electric vehicle users in our community by making it easier to install charging points and giving the community better access to them. The amendment affects all new residential and non-residential development. Thank you to everyone that participated and responded to the survey on the future of electric vehicles in Woollahra.
