Aurora, CO refers non-emergency 911 callers to appropriate care with its Nurse Navigation Program

Aurora, CO 911 Non-Emergency Call Nurse Navigation Program

In Progress

Aurora and Global Medical Response funded this program with a Nurses in 911 Program grant. Trained dispatchers evaluate each 911 call for emergency transport or transfer to licensed Nurse Navigators. Callers in non-emergency situations are evaluated for referrals to telehealth appointments with physicians, primary care visits, or at-home care. This triage process reduces unnecessary healthcare costs for patients and frees hospital resources for emergency situations.
