The Baltimore Office of Sustainability partnered with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the Rockefeller Foundation to launch the "Food Matters" program. The goal of the Food Matters program is to reduce the city's commercial waste by 50% and residential waste by 80% by 2040. The Food Matters strategy includes educating residents about food waste with the NRDC's Save the Good campaign, encouraging surplus food donations by local businesses, and incentivizing recycling/composting.
