In 2020, Christchurch City Council is spending an additional $2 million (NZD) to operate and install smart pressure and acoustic sensors in its water supply network. In addition, Christchurch is spending $200,000 (NZD) to improve auditing of commercial water to reduce the likelihood of backflow into the network. This project is designed to reliably keep Christchurch's drinking water supply safe for its residents.
