Denver, CO mapping tree and green spaces equity
The City of Denver partnered with American Forests the non-profit conservation organization to map tree canopies. The interactive map using geospatial and census data to reveal which parts of city are less protected by tree cover and more exposed to unhealthy heat levels. The results indicated that communities of color and low-income neighborhoods across the city have fewer trees and less access to shade compared to predominantly white and affluent neighborhoods.
