Detroit, MI reparations task force
Planning
The Detroit City Council approved a resolution which will create a city task force to design plans for reparations. The resolution also officially acknowledges that black people have been unjustly enslaved, segregated, incarcerated, denied housing, denied mortgages, and displaced. The council is looking to establish short-term and long-term plans to boost opportunities in the Black community, improve economic mobility and address the issue of generational wealth.
