Longueuil, QC connects police officers to communities they serve through immersion program
Longueuil, QC Police Officer Community Immersion Program
The police force designed a five-week program that builds interpersonal skills through community interactions. Plain-clothes participants open their minds to the experiences of vulnerable populations with the police. Officers learn the social and environmental conditions contributing to a growing number of mental health crises. The immersion program holds two sessions per year with a departmental goal to involve all officers by 2025.
