Niterói, RJ Arariboia Social Currency program
In Progress
The city of Niterói created the Arariboia Social Currency program to replace the Temporary Basic Income program and help 27,000 vulnerable families living in poverty during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Arariboia social currency can be used at registered local businesses such as bakeries, markets, and vegetables producers to help families meet their basic needs while supporting local businesses. The average monthly amount varies from R$360 to R$540 depending on the size of the family.
