Perth, WA starts Hotels with Heart pilot to help homeless during COVID-19 pandemic
Perth, WA COVID-19 Homeless Hotels with Heart
Complete
City officials arranged up to 20 rooms at the Pan Pacific Hotel for homeless residents at risk of contracting COVID-19. This program differed from existing accommodations by offering on-site health and social services. Hotels with Heart had the potential to help 120 residents if the pilot proved succesful. Perth also hoped for expansion beyond the homeless population to domestic abuse victims.
Room for Improvement
The pilot ended after most of the hotel's early occupants decided to leave after short-term stays.
