The City of Philadelphia's Parks & Recreation and Commerce Departments launched a new initiative to create a dedicated space for Black and Latino-owned small businesses at the annual Christmas Village event. The joint-funded initiative involved sponsoring three booths, colorful converted shipping containers, and providing grants for organizations to manage more spaces. The initiative was designed to alleviate financial barriers to selling at the Christmas Village for people of color.
