Southland Regional Council, NZ installs network of air quality sensors to detect smoke patterns

Southland Regional Council, NZ air quality sensors

Complete

Southland Regional Council partnered with the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) to install a network of air quality sensors across the region. These 25 Outdoor Dust Information Nodes (ODINs) collect data on smoke patterns to identify hot spots for poor air quality. The ODINs measure particulate matter every few minutes to provide NIWA with nearly real-time data visualizations every morning.
