Sydney, NSW incorporates water treatment innovations into Green Square Stormwater Drain project
Sydney, NSW Green Square Stormwater Drain Project
Complete
City officials coordinated the construction of a treatment facility and 2.4 kilometers of drain pipe with Sydney Water. Microtunneling techniques and computer modeling placed drain pipes under busy traffic with minimal surface impacts. Treatment facility operations are optimized using real-time data to process stormwater from drains. Recycled water serves non-potable water needs in the revitalized district, reduces pollutants in nearby waterways, and eases flooding concerns.
