Torrance, CA addresses shortage of police officers with Recruitment and Retention Incentive Pilot
Torrance, CA Police Recruitment Retention Incentive Pilot
In Progress
City officials approved the program in search of new recruits for 40 officer vacancies with the Torrance Police Department. Ten newly hired officers will receive $1,000 per month for child care and $1,000 per month for housing over their first two years of employment. This pilot also offers double pay for overtime shifts by all officers instead of the standard time-and-a-half. Torrance also created a ride-along program for interested college students as a new talent pipeline.
