Belleville, ON switches evening bus routes to on-demand service in successful pilot
Belleville, ON Evening On-Demand Bus Route Service
Belleville Transit worked with Pantonium on an app-based service that improved evening commutes without adding dispatcher hours. Commuters used the On Demand Transit app to request pickups and drop-offs within city limits. The Pantonium-designed app automated driver assignments based on the location and concentration of requests. The four-month Route 11 pilot increased nighttime ridership by 300% and reduced bus mileage by 30% due to improved route efficiency.
