Ingham County, MI prosecutors will not pursue criminal charges for non-public-safety traffic stops
Ingham County, MI prosecutors reducing traffic stops
Complete
The Ingham County Prosecutor's Office will no longer pursue criminal charges for individuals pulled over in traffic stops not related to public safety. The new policy reduces the incentives for officers to conduct traffic stops for small offenses such as broken taillights or expired plates. The policy was designed to reduce the overall number of traffic stops, the number of potentially violent situations for officers, and racially biased traffic stops.
