Long Beach, CA adds BizCare Program features in support of businesses impacted by COVID-19
Long Beach, CA BizCare Program Business Support COVID-19
The BizCare Program started with a dedicated hotline for questions about public health guidelines and pandemic assistance. Long Beach identified four areas of the city hardest hit by COVID-19 for weekly pop-ups staffed by the Department of Economic Development. These pop-ups offered grant application assistance and operational advice in multiple languages. A BizCare Outreach Team was later created for targeted engagement in areas not served by the pop-ups.
Project Succeeded
Long Beach used data to micro-target over 1,250 COVID-impacted local businesses, which then received more than $700,000 in grants. Bloomberg Philanthropies awarded the city with a What Works Cities Certification for Excellence in Using Data and Evidence.
